Performance & Exterior Features

The 2017 Lincoln MKC comes standard with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and produces 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine and 6-speed automatic transmission in the Ford Escape tops at just 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque.

The Lincoln MKC has an impressive-looking exterior with highly functional features. The base Lincoln MKC Premiere trim has auto-fold sideview mirrors with turn signal indicators and configurable daytime running lamps. It also has a hands-free liftgate. When your arms are full of groceries or other items, simply kick your feet under the liftgate, and it'll automatically open.

While the Ford's Escape exterior features are equally notable, its liftgate in the base trim is manual and doesn't have the hands-free option.

Premium Features Inside the Lincoln MKC vs Ford Escape

The MKC and Escape offer plenty of interior features for five passengers to enjoy every ride. Their base trims come standard with air conditioning, AM/FM radio, CD player, MP3 player, and auxiliary input. However, the Lincoln MKC comes standard with additional features not found in the base trim of the Escape:

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (6-month trial)
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated mirrors

Lincoln MKC vs Ford Escape Safety

The MKC and Escape have many of the same safety features, like:

  • Dual-stage front airbags
  • Driver's knee airbag
  • Safety Canopy® System with Side Curtain Airbags
  • LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tether Anchors for Children)
  • SOS Post-Crash Alert System™

Furthermore, the Lincoln MKC adds a battery saver and perimeter alarm to its list of standard safety and convenience features.

If you exit your vehicle without turning off any electronic features, the battery saver, called Power Active Mode, will shut everything off to preserve the battery. And if someone tries to break into your vehicle, the perimeter alarm will warn intruders with a Real Panic Sound.

The Ford Escape, while very secure, doesn't come with the battery saver feature. It also doesn't offer a perimeter alarm until its highest trim level.

Lincoln MKC vs Ford Escape Comparison: Verdict

The 2017 Ford Escape is a great SUV. However, the Lincoln MKC has a more powerful performance, and more standard technology and convenience features.
